Ive played quite a few of the modern machines lately, and to be honest none of them really grab me at all, technical marvels Im sure, but the playfields just seem too "busy" for my tastes, I had a look at lord of the rings and it did my head in just looking at it. I like the late 70's and early 80's stuff, my wishlist is to have KISS, Evel Knievel, Charlies Angels and stuff like that, dont know about the last two but from the prices Ive seen for KISS the only way I'll get one is to sell my business and get into organised crime :)
Interesting to note, my young bloke (16) who Im having trouble getting off my 2 machines says his mates all laughed at him when he told them he had pinnys at home, they are all into xbox rubbish and online games, Ive never liked video games (other than the classic text adventure that I spent months on a CP/M based machine in the late 70's) and the whole space invaders thing never grabbed me (although I'd give my left one for one of those car racing machines with the mono screens and the real steering wheel I saw a bloke on here doing up)
Im in a very small country town (population under 1000) and a while back (a couple of years ago) the bloke in the fish and chip shop was approached by a greek bloke to site a pinball in his shop, no money up front and 50-50 profits....I cant remember what game it was but the chippy owner told me his cut was over $150 a week plus all the extra food and drinks he sold. He sold the business to some city trendsetter types who thought a pinball didnt fit the "vibe" of the business and proceeded to artistically paint the building and tried selling more healthy food at higher prices and went bankrupt shortly after.
all the best
