PDI Optical Non Glare Glass
« on: October 20, 2010, 05:59:39 PM »
HI everyone,

I've been thinking for a while about buying this glass.
http://www.pinballdecals.com/NonGlareOpticalGlassPage.html

Has anyone bought it?

Because of it's price (US$300 each, $285 per sheet to ship to Aus, $175 per sheet with 2 orders to ship) I've been thinking that maybe some other people might want to order as well to bring the cost down.

If anyone has any thoughts on the subject. Feel free to get in touch.
I'm in Adelaide by the way.

Cheers

Looks good, wonder what it's like in the flesh?

I'm in the glass game.
Can't say I've heard of it, but..........that doesn't mean it's not here in Australia.
Hard to keep up with all the new products all the time.
Will ask my suppliers if they have it or know of it.
Will let you know.
Ya just gotta luv an EM.

Apparently it's made in Germany and then shipped to Pinball Decals who are the only people who sell it.

Would be great if a big company like Pinballs r us or Bumper distributed it in Aus.

It's expensive but at least the Aus$ is making it more attractive than it was about 3 years ago when i first looked at it  ^^^

Is it just me or does anyone else find it ironic that a site trying to flog a product making a pin look better and more visually appealing use dark blue text on black background making the page virtually illegible and almost unreadable  !@#

Good point.

Just because they have a great product...doesn't mean they have a great web site does it  :D

Far too rich for me $$$ I'm afraid.
Some pretty obvious alternatives are:
* Position overhead light source(s) behind player.
* Use of dimmers.
I'm Also investigating 3M microslat privacy screen material to stop glare from DMDs. This has been posted before under (I think) Glare Guard. Not cheap, but way less than special PF glass.

Still, might be viable if our glazier mate comes up with sources in Oz?

I guess we all have our tastes cause I kinda like having glare and reflections coming off the glass, especially in a line up I think it helps create an more of an 'arcade' atmosphere.

I am very interested ... personally I feel this is the best pinball mod available . I need 2 x standard & 1 widebody, I;m in Sydney. What would this cost me?

I've known about this for ages, there is a great youtube vid showing off the non glare glass ... shame not available in Aus as shipping costs suck
Cheers Paul

I'm going to order some for myself. Either 2 or 3 standard body.

If anyone else wants to combine with my order to save on shipping cost then lets start to talk. I'm in Adelaide so would not be a problem for people to come round and pick up from my house after delivery.
Interstate people would need to think about the best way to get it to you. I'm open to any ones suggestion and would love to get a list together so we can all save money.

Also here is a you tube clip that shows why it's so great. Apart from the postage cost, i don't know why every collector doesn't have this glass.
I will be keeping the glass always for my machines and replace with standard glass when i sell them. So looking at the cost spread over say 10 years and used for different machines while they are at home.

Lets start getting some orders together. %)%

Have contacted my supplier this morning and his response is:
"G James will be stocking this product prior to Xmas.  They are purchasing the product from Amarand Glass and it is due into store prior to Xmas.  If you let me know what you require, I will source some pricing for you if required."

So, I will forward some sizes to him for pricing. I would be amazed if we couldn't get them considerably cheaper than from the states. Will keep you updated on pricing.
I wouldn't hold your breathe on gettng any b4 xmas though.
