G'day There
« on: January 18, 2009, 09:37:52 AM »
G'day ,

My name's Ken and i've had an interest in pinballs from an early age.
I remember being taken to different arcades with family from around the age of 8.
I got my first pinball when I was 13 , Gottlieb's Sure Shot ,and learnt to fix it if it ever broke down.
It was only a couple of years old and was almost new in condition.
My parents paid $275 for it from “The Poker machine Shoppe” at Homebush.....i still have the recipt..LOL
As I got older I lost interest in pinball and started riding trail bikes and then going to pubs and drinking.
I remember selling Sure Shot when I was 18 for $50 or $80.... “what an idiot!!” , but that's all you could get for them back then.

I'm now 42, and found pinball again 13 years ago when I moved from Sydney up to the Central Coast.
I bought a Supersonic from a local dealer and still have it!
It kept having problems from day one ,the guy came to fix it a couple of times and told me I should buy a soldering iron....i did and haven't looked back.
Since then i've taught myself to fix all my own machines and repaired a great many for other people as well.

I like machines of all ages ,EM through to DMD ,but have a particular liking for late 70's solid state.
I have around 10 machines at the moment , the keepers among them are Supersonic ,Playboy ,Strikes and Spares ,Power Play and Blackjack
I've spent the last few months looking for a Firepower backglass and recently just found one ,so now i'll add Firepower to my keepers list.....it wasn't much good without a glass!
A friend of mine picked the glass up from Melbourne for me and it's in great condition.

Enough about me for now...i hope to learn a few things on the forum and occasionally offer some advice.
