Wanted - Getaway
« on: January 10, 2012, 07:07:52 PM »
Hey guys,
Long time lurker.  Its time for a new pin.  I really have my heart set on a getaway.

If anyone is getting rid of one let me know.
Thanks

Sorry guys.  Live in Point Cook in Melbourne's West

You should be OK living in Melbourne....For dealers, checkout Bumper Action / Zax in town, Cashbox Amusements in North Melb, Felix at GameMasters in Preston, out south east you've got TPF (Wayne).  Private importers you've got Oscar in Caroline Springs, Dirty Daz in Dandy, BillXIX in Williamstown.
Tony @ The Pinball Shed in QLD is worth a look as well.

Getaway is a great game.  Most have pretty bad cab fade, but cab art is available locally and at a good price.  They tend to have a bit of insert wear on them (esp in the centre area above flippers - ie the RPM inserts) so watch out for that too.  Make sure the beacon (mars lamp) (red flashing light) on headbox is present and working.

Plenty of choices, so as I always state in my eBay auctions "I welcome any inspection from perspective buyers and I recommend to also visit all the other commercial sellers in the Melbourne area to compare the quality and standard of workmanship and attention to detail" (maybe I should have trademarked that phrase....hmm.... !@#

Good idea to checkout all your options to sort the good machines out from the not so good.

Thanks for that Marty.

I know about the big retail boys.  Was just looking for a private sale if someone was getting rid of one.
I have contacted Dirty Daz but he only had a project one and just recently sold a working one so just missed out.
Tony at the shed does not have anything at the moment but said to check in a few months with him.

I will keep hunting around and hopefully with have a bit of luck.

Best of luck, I am sure you will pick one up sooner rather than later as they come up pretty often.
2-2.5k should get you a nice one.

+1 - Sometimes you need to trademark comments in auctions  !@# Some people have no originality and need to copy other's ideas.

Getaway is a common pinball. You should find one local with the guys Marty mentioned.

All good now.  Sourced a very reasonably priced project Getaway that I have managed to get everything working on.  Play field pretty good just really dirty.  Just need to strip and shop it fully but overall very happy.

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions
