I asked a few people who did buy a Woz if they were going to buy The Hobbit as well
five out of six said they would not be buying The Hobbit (myself included)

that may or may not change depending on how good the WOZ game is i would suspect

its certainly a gamble on buying this next machine before the first pin has been ship, but so was buying the woz on a start up company i suppose.

It may or not pay off for a buyer.
it will be interesting to see

It also depends on how cashed up buyers are. A lot of people would find it difficult to purchase 2 x NIB machines in a row - although with the Hobbit stretching out to 2014 the payments would be easier.

Yeah it's sort of a payment plan interest free good for the buyers I suppose.

Question for Tony (Ant68) -

Do you know how much JJP paid for the Hobbit licence and how it compares with the WOZ licence?

Not sure , when I was at Jacks last christmas he mentioned the Hobbit to me .I think there may have been a bidding war , but I'm not 100% sure .
I'm thinking that WOZ may have been more .

I think thye Hobbitt movie opens in theatres boxing day or something very close......

I wasnt interested in going to see it at all. BUT, I am thinking now I might go n see it just to work out if its going to translate into a decent Pinball machine for JJP or is it going to be a stinker or not....(stinker if its mostly aimed at young children and not adults cause it might be lacking in viscious battle scenes with orcs n all those other nasty creatures which were always in the Lord of The Rings movies running around with machete type swords etc plus all those huge monsters on chains plus the elephant things with tusks etc etc)

Anyone else going to see it with their kids, or by yourself just to see if it will make for a good pinball transition story n artwork wise for JJP ?  !@# !@#

My jammy arse brother is at the film launch in NZ on Wednesday.

Ill be going when it comes out here... wouldnt miss it for anything.

Whether the film is briiliant or crap wont determine how good any pin will be based on the film... there are plenty of films that would make a good pinnie and plenty of pins with zero licence theme that make great games.

Based on the how 3 LOTR films were... its a safe bet to assume that these 3 HOBBIT films will be on par and the same genre

Bumper's Aus price regarding Hobbit LE
- Wizard of Oz Customers can get the Hobbit LE for $8890
- Public pre order (non WOZ owners) will be paying $9250

I wonder if they went to a Standard width body the price of a LE would be cheaper than Stern's LE's.

That difference in pricing only applies til Feb to my knowledge, and then the price is the same for everyone.....

I was also under the impression that anyone ordering now gets the discounted price until feb when it goes up slightly....this is according to Bumper as of apx 4 or 5 days ago....

The prob with the JJP selling model, is that if u dont buy a LE model upfront, u can only buy the std model, which costs more money, has less features, and resale will be harder with a std model than a LE model......it sort of discourages anyone to buy a machine unless u score the LE......cause if u miss the LE, u have to pay more for less.....thats a hard sell.....

maybe JJP should do a 2 tier LE model....both are LE, but just cosmetic differences like Sterns 2 x LE models.....say 1000 Emerald green WOZ and say 1000 Purple Woz........or same with Hobbitt.....1500 Hobbit LE Red...1500 Hobbitt LE Blue.......doubles your LE availability...but keeps each individual LE to 1000 or 1500 only....smarter marketing.....

traditionally, u shld be selling 2 or 3 times the std model to the LE, but the JJP model hasnt been able to do that yet according to Bumper....1000 LE Woz sold, less than 100 std Woz sold....2 x cosmetically different LE models from JJP could be a huge winner....
