Aussie Pinball now No. 1 Google Search Result!

Well in the space of a few months this place has risen to No. 1 (at least as far as google is concerned). The search term

aussie pinball

now results in our forum being returned at the top!

Sorry Guys, As much as I love this site it does not do well in terms of Google Rankings. You cannot use a domain name as a basis for ranking as it will always rank high. My regular job is involved with Search Engine Optimisation for websites across all Asia pacific (including sites in Japanese & Chinese) so I have been down this road for a long while.

The biggest limitation of this website as it currently stands is that the site is locked for non-members which would mean that search engines such as Google are unable to index the rich content in the forum posts. For example if you look at the following link it shows you all the pages on AussiePinball that Google can see http://www.google.com.au/search?q=site%3Awww.aussiepinball.com.au&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft%3Aen-au&sa=2 .  (Just 1 page).

I am more than happy to provide suggestions to bring up the rankings for this site (if asked) - assuming this is what is sought.

Thanks pict. Yeah I heard about that as well with respect to the locked sections and search engines not finding them. Any clues on how to get a higher rank by searching only on the word "pinball"?

A google search on "pinball forum" shows us in 11th spot. Only a matter of weeks ago we weren't even on the radar of Google.

I don't care what google says. WE ARE NO. 1 IN MY BOOKS ( well i do care when it says were no. 1)
this is the best forum i have ever come across.
nobody makes it hard for anyone else : i have seen some forums were a person has started a thread in the wrong area and every one is jumping down there neck.
on this forum if you start a thread in the wrong place you get a polite " I have moved your thread to the correct subject, hope you don't mind? "
This forum is my hangout, the place I call My Home on the internet.
Everyone is so freindly and not trying to make them selves look better than any one else.
I class the majority of the people on this site as extended family ( I say majority because i haven't spoken to everybody yet)
we all have a passion for pinball here weather it be SS or EM or both.
So well done to everyone that is on this site, you have all made it what it is to day.
it doesn't mater if you have made 3042 posts or 1 post you have helped this site.

That is complete justification for setting up this forum in the first place. We just knew this forum would have the feeling you described the moment we conceived the idea. It just had to be this way or not at all. The pinball community was crying out for this type of atmosphere and we delivered it, with all our members help. Thank you! Onwards and upwards...
