Best way to pack a pin for shipping?
« on: April 25, 2012, 06:24:22 PM »
sold my pin, i wasnt real keen on shipping it as it scares the hell out of me, but all my offers were out of qld, so i changed my mind to get a sale. i want to do my best to pack it correctly, just need the best way to send it off, i know sometimes machines hate being transported and as its leaving my house working 100% i want to give it the best chance of arriving the same way lol. so how do you pack them picks would be helpfull cheers

Take the balls out and in the cash box with the coin door unlocked. Have the head folded down with old rags on the rails between the backbox and the rails and strap this down so it can't bounce around so the translite / backglass can't come loose. Definitely strap the machine down to a pallet as due to the weight no one is going to manually pick it up, if you don't they will try and drive the fork tynes under the machine. Once fastened to the pallet lots of bubble wrap, (wrap the legs and fasten to the side of the machine / pallet then heavy cardboard, followed by some cling wrap and water proof the address and your address so no getting lost under the cling wrap and taped in place.

I have only sent a empty cabinet but have received a few this way with no damage. Sorry didn't take photos, too eager to open.

Yep all that stuff especially heavy cardboard on the corners and front, take out the shooter rod so the front is flat, eager fork drivers can easily bend or break the rod or damage the cab. bubble wrap, industrial glad wrap around whole pallet and cab.
Dont forget the "fragile, top load only" stickers so they dont stack shit on top of your game.

Depends on who the buyer has organized to deliver the game. Some removalist companies can take the game on its legs with only the head folded. You need to ask them before you do anything.

I pack mine in cardboard and shrink wrap. I clearly label each side and denote the side of the machine used for the hand trolley. Here's pictures of an SS and DMD sent via a removalist company.

hmm at this stage im going to look at a swords of fury on friday, if all goes well thats what i will be going home with lol.
but i really want a very very good sof so im paying top dollar some would say for a sof as i wont to keep this machine as its a grail.
thanks for the comment it sold cheaper than i would have liked but its fair enough that i almost covered the money i put into it. im hoping they dont take the paypal option of paying me lol will loose a bit of cash that way lol once they take their fees out. oh well.

and thank you every body for the suggestions on wrapping ill get into that tomorrow when the cling-wrap i ordered turns up from my supplier. and thanks for the pictures, shipping part scares me, so i want to do it correctly as its allot of money still

when its all wraped up it actually looks to small to be a pinball
