BUY ANOTHER NEW STERN SOON ?
« on: May 02, 2012, 08:59:17 PM »
Some people buy a New Stern, absolutely love the Brand New in Box experience, and catch the bug to buy another new Stern.
Ofcourse, there is nothing like a brand spanking new pinball machine. Its like a brand new car, just better !

We have a few members on here who have very decent new Stern collections with 4 or more new STERNS and quite a few people who have just bought their first new Stern Title, or have a couple of Sterns in their collections.

Whether u have a Ironman, or a Spiderman, or a ACDC, or any other new Stern at all, is anyone on here really looking forward to the next new title that Stern is going to bring out with the "view to buying it already" buzzing around in your head if the machine looks n sounds the part ?

Would you seriously consider the new AVENGERS/MARVEL SUPER HEROS machine, or any other likely offerings from STERN soon ?  !@# !@#

I want more MARVEL pins, Stern has the licence and it looks likely that there will be more of them.
No secret that I would love a Avengers and I will buy one if the title is done and done right, same with X-Men if that is the theme.
I really hope it is Avengers but anything Marvel or super-hero is cool with me!
I have only enjoyed opening one NIB and I would very much like to do it again.

Oy Cavey,

I'd LOVE to buy a NIB Stern . . .

There are many Baby Boomers (BBs) in the process or ready to retire.... I know, I am one of them. Now, if you do them sums right, you will see that the BBs were between the ages of 15 and 35 at the peak of the pinball golden era in 1980.  These BBs cut their teeth on EMs in the 1960s and 70s and pinball is in their blood.
Some were collectors but a lot of BBs followed a career and family path over the last 30 years. Now these BBs have lots of time, are loaded with money and wish to relive their past.....all good news for the Silver Ball.
I will buy NIBs so long as the theme, design, quality and flow are all there. ACDC also carries the Aussie icon element which is hard to resist.
If you don't remember the 70s then you were on drugs.
If you remember playing pinball in the 70s you were having a good time.
If you don't remember anything,  then read about it here,

I want to buy a NIB Stern. But I'm "picky" with themes and layout. I love Ironman, and I came close to buying. I really enjoy CSI and I'd like one for my collection. The layout and rules for CSI are cool. I don't watch the TV series.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck in the past, and I'd rather a game on Fathom, Medusa or Paragon to any late model Stern, but all I need is a good theme and I'll give it a crack. I would have to play the title before buying.

LOL.

I'm planning to slowly grow the collection. Hoping for roughly one additional pin year for the next few years, with hopefully at least 1 NIB in that time subject to theme and quality.

If the next Stern title is as good a overall package as ACDC was, it will be hard not to seriously part with the money.

If the artwork on the translite is great (and i think it will be) the next release might just be a huge winner. I dont like the Avengers name, but prefer the Marvel Super Hero tag more. The only thing that may or may not be unfortunate for Aussie buyers is that alot of people have forked out for ACDC or WOZ, and may not be able to shell out for a Avengers so close to the recent releases.

Maybe the Avengers will be a huge hit in the USA, maybe bigger than ACDC was, if recent reports about USA interest in ACDC is true ?
either way, I am really looking forward to the 2012 offerings of Stern, and we havent even thought about what might come in 2013.

A sci-fi Aliens/ Prometheus pinball would be a definate purchase. Imagine the artwork.

The calendar cant clkick over fast enough for me at the moment.

With only one pinball in the collection so far there's plenty of titles I'd like.... In fact it's an ever expanding list of titles. The Avengers for me though would be a very exiting one and if I liked the art work and game play when it came out I'd defiantly bump it to the top of the list and pick one up. I'd be unlikely to pre order before playing one but would be happy to travel to try one out as soon as they hit our shores.

I am at the point where space is an issue
I have done the NIB thing
I have done the (not so) Limited edition thing
I have a couple of (what some would consider) top 10 machines
..but with space being an issue, what ever games I get from now on, I am really going to have to like the theme and the lay out. I doubt that I will buy a game blind (not seeing the playfield before I lay down cash) again

The Avengers will be a massive hit in the states when the film opens this week, if a pin is done it will easily outsell acdc in the states.. acdc main sales are here in oz and it is the oz market that is driving this pin.
I would prefer a MARVEL super-hero pin as based on the comics not the movies but with the Avengers being THE popcorn movie of the year and Stern having the licence if it is done it will be the Avengers film licence pin and not the MARVEL super-hero comic book licence pin if anything is done..same with X-men or any other future release...better to have a film tied in to rake more mullah.
Can't see Prometheus being a pin but it will be the best sci fi film since alien/ blade runner that's for sure. I'm off to see it in a fortnight, cant wait. My mail is the 3D ( Ridley Scott shot this in 3d) is amazing, better 3d than Avatar and right up there with the 3D in Hugo.
There is a new trl out for Prometheus but is a little bit spoiler...so if you want to remain in the dark as much as possible before the film hits in June don't suss it.

Theme is king for me, and Stern hasn't really hit the nail on the head too often. I love playing LotR but cannot stand the theme, love the Simpsons theme but it's way too stop start for me. And those are their best games of those I have played (judgement reserved for a game on AC/DC which I have not yet played). At least with AC/DC we didn't get another movie theme. Ultimately I prefer the gameplay feel of other manufacturers and can't see a Stern entering the collection any time soon unless a killer theme emerges.

I feel exactly the same way about LOTR and Simpsons.

I'm on the look out for another Stern. The titles i'm considering are AC/DC pro, Ironman, SM or a T3. Wish i could buy all four.
