Data East TFTC Flipper issues

G'day All

I've recently picked up a TFTC.  Today was my first real chance to get in and play a few games. 

After an hour or so the Left Flipper would occasionally pretty much drop out - ie still fire but no force and really slow.  If I tapped the flipper 10 times or so I'd be back in business.

More regularly I'm noticing that the upper right flipper is not in sync with the bottom right - just a fraction slower.  Later on I was noticing that it would behave similarly to the Left Flipper described earlier.  It would still move - just well after the ball had passed.

I haven't experienced the weak issues with the lower right flipper at all.

This is my first modern machine (own a Flash and Firepower).
Any usual suspects to look at?
Any advice is really appreciated.

check the fuse clips on the flipper board (in the cab, left hand side near volume control)
try pushing on the glass fuses (with the machine turned off) and see if the fuse clips stretch out or break or already are broken. this is a very common fault with data east.
the picture below is not the actual flipper board, it's just there to show you where the clips break.

Also check the switches at the flipper buttons, they may need adjusting.  Same with the EOS switches if the machine has them.

I got in and took the SSFB out this morning.
Rattled a few fuses - 1 looked a little corroded, and all is good in the hood!!!

I'm my travels I also found some good trouble shooting tips over at pinwiki - so I'll make sure I head there first next time!

+1, My Tommy occasionally has the upper left flipper a bit slower than the lower left - sometimes it even fails to fire. I've found that the switches at the flipper button need a little clean, and a little adjusting so they both fire at the same time.

Well after claiming I'd sorted things out the gremlins returned again. 
I've got to adjust the switches too - I'll probably replace them as they're pretty trashed.

Another thing to try which is common on Jurassic Park. There a wire loom in the vicinity of the flipper link and it can stop the flipper from responding if it is in the way.

The other easy check is to remove the glass and with the game off, check the resistance of the flipper my moving it up and letting it go. Sometimes the flipper pawl is too close to the bottom of the bushing and causes friction. To fix this, slightly loosen the hex head and tap out the flipper shaft, which will create more distance between the flipper shaft and bushing.

Another possibility is that a previous owner lubricated the flipper shaft / bushing and now it causes friction. To fix this, remove the flipper shaft and clean the shaft and the bushing with a rag covering a thin screwdriver.
