Yesterday I took delivery of a ‘Star Wars’ (Atari 1983) Upright vector arcade game

I remember playing this (cockpit version) back when it was new
I knew that most of these games were trashed because they used a different monitor that was prone to breaking down, so I never even thought that I might ever own one. And even though I had seen them come up occasionally for sale they always seemed a little too pricey for me.

A few weeks ago, Stuba offered this game up for sale. Luckily I was quick enough to get it.
Machine is in smicko condition, sides of the cabinet are in good condition, so is the control panel.
It is hard to believe that this game is almost 30 years old

I must say, while I don’t play much video games I am having a great time playing this machine.
It will definitely be staying in the collection for a while

Awesome! Occasional when I'd nagged enough, mum would give me a few 20c pieces for a game at "Alien City". They used have the cockpit version too.  It was like being transported straight into the movie in those days.
Great pick up.  ^^^

I think most of these that came to Australia were the cockpit version
this has been imported from the US at some point (I am guessing)

Either way you've gotta love the cockpit style controls. Great blast from the past, thanks for posting  ^^^

Congrats on the score, top game for sure.
A mate of mine has one and it's always fun to have a few coldies and blast some tie fighters.
