AC/DC Rules
« on: June 10, 2012, 10:37:10 PM »
After 600 odd games you'd reckon I know most of the rules but I don't #@# One question is what does it mean with one of the Multiball inserts stays on rather than flashing? Jam Multiball stayed on for me today,  do they also let you know how many songs you have completed? as in each of the inserts represents four songs completed? any other rule tips would be appreciated.

There is an interesting thread atm on pinside.com on exactly the same question. It seems that nobody knows the rules (or they don't exist)

I knew there was something missing.

After having extensive game time on the ACDC Premium.

The band/theme means nothing to me, as does the so called "rockin" sound (I could just buy a jukebox for the same experience). Gameplay always takes priority for me (strangely enough) and it just seems to be "not quite there" in terms of that. There is nothing really innovative in terms of interactive toys that affect gameplay that hasn't been seen before and it is almost as if there was a pre-existing generic design on file at Stern that they dug out and then decided to throw a bell on it to make it theme specific.

Here is a good pinside post about the rules, I don't think it's the one I was referring to in my earlier post though but it does give some idea on what to do

Holding the right flipper button in while shooting the ball into the jukebox hole lifts up the metal flap that way the ball comes straight back to the RHS flipper if you then hit the bell straight away your awarded super skill shot for extra points.

If U own a AC/DC Pinny, u need to watch the 2 x Stern videos for the AC/DC PRO gameplay and the rules etc. The PRO rules still apply for the LE/PREMIUM where the machines have most of the same hardware and shots etc. The PRO rules still mostly apply. That was the advice I recieved from Stern about the higher models til the next AC/DC videos come out.

SR/Stern emailed me back and there is a LE/Premium video and same style of video coming out for the LE/PREMIUM model with all the rules explained for the lower playfield and different features compared to the Pro.

I also note, there seems to be only a few people around the traps who just dont get the AC/DC machines. A few negative people have spent so much time bagging the AC/DC pinnys when they havent purchased themselves. I am not sure why only a few people are repeatedly and repeatedly bagging these AC/DC titles like a broken record. It doesnt make sense when they didnt buy the machines but keep putting some much effort in trying to convince the many hundreds and hundreds of happy buyers that the sky is pink. It doesnt make sense at all. It gets embarrassing after a while.

Watch the videos, they really help all the AC/DC machines til the next videos come out.

the present "game rule" videos are pretty much useless. They might help someone who has never played the game.
Much more needs to come in the way of updated code, the game play as such is still a loose cannon but big points
can still be achieved from what is on offer. Got 518m on 3 ball reset with the 1.52 code.

I'm still left scratching my head

What i found with the videos, was the extensive info on what to shoot for on each and every song.

That alone covers a good 70 percent of what one needs to understand the AC?DC rules. I know it doesnt cover all of the questions for the game rules, but it does cover alot. Also, there is sooo much info on what to do with the shots for each song, you need to write it all down just to remember it.
Without that info, u havent got a chance to cover all the shots that u need to master the indepth gameplay.

I would have thought the info was good for both new AC/DC owners and anyone who has had the game for months. Its the best available at this time so I have used it with excellent results.

I am looking forward to more info for the Premium and LE as well and understand the desire for owners to have that new LE gamerule video yesterday. Hurry up Stern ! lol  ^^^

Who needs rules explained?
Just jump in and enjoy it, finding things out on a new machine by yourself is half the fun! *%*

Well said actually Daz.  ^^^
It can definately be half the fun. The only thing with Lyman Sheets is that he likes to make his rules very deep n complicated sometimes but with the AC/DC models, the relevant shots for each song makes it reasonably straight forward.

Sometimes watching someone else play is great cause u get to see alot more of the Dot matrix display and its extra directions/hints really help.

Here is a nice long AC DC Premium/LE tutorial:
http://www.thebruiser.org/pinballer/2012/07/09/acdc-tutorial/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=acdc-tutorial
The scoring comes up big and fast so the scoring tips come in handy. I never thought of shooting the bell from the canon for the 2x and potential 3x scoring; I always shoot the AC/DC targets.
I am definitely changing some of my play strategies after watching this tutorial.
Also check out the Extra Ball through the multiple ramp shots.....was not aware of that one....neat!
