funhouse step ramp
« on: August 13, 2012, 09:14:26 AM »
I finished my playfield swap but continue to have a problem with the Step Ramp on my Funhouse. This has been a problem since purchasing a new ramp and not since the pf swap. Maybe others have had a similar problem and have found a fix.

If I simply install the ramp,  I find the ramp has not got a sufficient right to left lean to allow the ball to do the full circuit (hotdog mode) and becomes trapped against the blue dampner rubber. This is regardless on the speed of the ball. If I put a extension on the long metal tube post to increase the lean, it does alleviate the problem but it is difficult to get the ball travel past the steps. If you slam the ball up the ramp, it bounces along the steps and nearly makes the loop and then rolls back into one of the step exits.

Prior to the swap I could make this loop shot by slamming the plunger say 1 in 10, since the swap I'm zero. I tried without the extension and the ball rests on the blue rubber.

any ideas?

good question came with game so haven't really considered. But seemed ok with the old ramp. Are both springs the same as these seem so?

Got home and think have solved the problem. Not hardware but adjustment. Got the new pf in just before midnight yesterday so didn't have the have the time to investigate further. Found shooter was hitting the ball on the top and so lowered it and much better. Sorry for the thread but hope someone with a similar problem will see this in the future.

Handy thread, others will benefit from it. In fact, I was cursing a game a week ago because I couldn't control the shooter shot the way I liked (on Firepower) and then realised since the playfield swap the plunger was doing similar to what you found, a little off-center.

yep....another thing I just remembered was my right flipper bat kept creeping up with every flip. I spent 10 minutes tightening to the point where I thought I'd ripped the entire playfield out of the cabinet and it still shifted with the flips.

Changed the lock nut and tightened much less than before and it stayed put. Go figure  @.@
