Adjusting drop targets

If I hit a drop target fairly hard it won't drop. The ball can just graze it and it will fall. I find at the moment, hitting the target a normal strength is a 50/50 propesition. Can be annoying f you aim and don't get the payoff. What are the most likely reasons for this problem?

Chances are the assembly is not positioned through the PF properly. If you look underneath to where it is mounted the whole drop target bracket has an adjustment with the screw holes to move it back and forwards slightly.
My guess is its a little too far back and when you whack the drop it hits the timber of the PF.. graze it and it falls.
SOLAR CITY was doing the same and it took me a while to work out why

If it is an old school Bally, that is the way they were!  You can try moving the bank forward as suggested, putting a smaller rubber behind the bank (stretches thinner and less likely to hold the target up), file the lip a bit thinner, or stiffen up the target by reinforcong the back.  Some of the repro targets are very flexiable and this makes the problem worse.

Thanks guys will try your suggestions. I could not seem to find the bracket that has adjustment. The plate that the springs attach to has a couple of degrees cw or ccw and then there is the bottom plate that resets the targets. Couldn't see where adjustment is there. Am I looking in the right place?

Where it screws into the bottom of the PF... you can looosen the screws and move back and forwards slightly

common problem with new targets, they take awhile to settle-in. I have taken a file to them, but time is usually all it takes.
