Capcom Airborne - opto switch error
« on: January 12, 2013, 06:17:33 PM »
Hi all,
I'm currently repairing a Capcom Airborne and have narrowed 6 switch errors down to one. The game seems to be playing ok, but the left up/down ramp keeps firing during the game (going up and down) and in the diagnostics menu, there is an opto error on left scoop which feeds to a ramp. The right opto on the other scoop registers fine when I put my finger in the beam and I noticed the opto board on the far right hand side is hot to touch. The left opto with the error is stone cold.

I have reflowed the solder on the left opto, but didn't seem to make any difference. As a side note, it's not registering as an error anymore, but the opto still won't register even if I put my finger in front of the beam.

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers!
Adam.

I ended up ordering two TX opto boards and replaced both optos that were acting up or not working at all. Machine is now working after fixing all errors.

Cheers!
Adam.
