Williams Scores and/or F14 Tomcat Score wiring problem !!
« on: June 26, 2009, 12:52:40 AM »
Hi All,

I have a williams F14-Tomcat with a non working score.
The score pcb has 4 glass displays, The top 2 are Alpha-numerical, and the bototm 2 are 7seg Displays.

After a bunch of fuse blowing and hair-tearing i've now discovered that the score power (6pin) connector has different pinouts on the score PCB compared to the pinouts on the Williams PSupply PCB.
(Therefore the score would NEVER work, after blowing the fuse).

Heres the pinouts:
Williams PSupply (D-8345-541 / part no: 16-8850-145)
Pin 1 - Ground (0v)
Pin 2 - not used
Pin 3 - neg 100V (-100v)
Pin 4 - pos 100v (+100v)
Pin 5 - not used
Pin 6 - logic 5V (+5v)

...and on my F14 score:
(D-11610 / part no: 16-8850-169, although the F14 manual has a D-11416-1 / part no: 16-8995-1, but they BOTH have the same pinout).
Pin 1 - neg 100V (-100v)
Pin 2 - not used
Pin 3 - pos 100v (+100v)
Pin 4 - not used
Pin 5 - Ground (0v)
Pin 6 - logic 5V (+5v)

So, using a 1-to-1 wired loom (6pin connectors) is the problem, and i'll now rewire 1 connector to do some wire flipping to provide correct volts onto correct score pins.

I'm beginning to feel previous owner had put 'any' old score into the F14, without testing it?

Has anyone seen something like this in Williams machines before?
