Stern AC/DC proposal
« on: July 15, 2009, 12:02:49 PM »
A formal approach HAS been made to Stern Pinball Inc from our WA Stern agent Kids Just Wanna Have Fun Amusement Hire (Joe Tripoli) in conjunction with AMD Australia our national distributor.
Joe is a huge fan of accadacca & pinball. He started the "ball rolling" some months ago. To date no reply has been received - hence I've kept my head pulled in until now.
Perhaps AP can in some capacity get behind this campaign and impress on Gary Stern (and AC/DC management)? just how huge a success this title would be. I for one will be building up my pinmoney in anticipation!

Great idea.

Any ideas on in "what" capacity AP can become involved ? We have a few active threads, including the "home made" AC DC pinball.

Any "bright ideas" should be voiced on this thread and hopefully we can make enough "noise". Anyone here a member of an AC/DC fan club etc ?

Perhaps AC/DC's licensing fees are just way over the top. Maybe that's why Stern has not gone further with this idea.

Great idea EB. What if we make a petition here at AP and have all our members sign it?

Why would Stern want to bother making an ACDC pin?
50% of Sterns market is in USA... hed be more inclined to make a Carpenters pin.

If you want a pin to feature some old Aussie rock group that peaked over 20 years ago ( i saw them at Donnington in 81 after Bon had died) then you would be better off sending emails to your pinball manufacturer right here in Australia.. youd have more chance due to its limited market.

Just send your deposits in......

Some folks in the USA would beg to differ.

I didn't see Butt-Head wearing a Carpenters T-shirt.  I think that was an American show #@#

You lot take your ageing rock bands too seriously, they had their day... time to move on boys... aint the late 70's anymore and ACDC are just some old crumbles with guitars now.
Actually in true ACDC fashion and the Marshall stack... IF Stern ever decided to make this old themed pin then they may well make sure that 90% of the cabinet is empty and just for show - LOL!!!

BTW - my flame suit is still on    %.% %.%

I just think there would be as many people as happy to see this one out there as a KISS, even in the US of A.  AC/DC was definitely popular in the US - if you ask most US people to name an Aussie band I would think AC/DC and the Oils would be near the top of the list, excluding those poor souls who have only ever listened to hip-hop and the like.

We can wish all we like, but I guess we can't count on Stern or anyone else to necessarily do it because we think it's a good idea.

Who knows - maybe one day !@#

Well I would say that 90% of pinball enthusiasts remember the time when AC/DC ruled so you put 2 and 2 together. Pinball seems to be more about nostalgia and reliving your youth these days. Looks to be a lot more interest here for an AC/DC pin than Big Buck Hunter.

Yes Tony is right, peeps who play pinball today are mostly baby boomers & gen X'rs who grew up listening to dinosaur rock bands, other than our own kids, I don't think today's young ones would play a Beyonce or Chris Brown pinball unless it had some kind of weapon attachment & video screen :lol

I'd rather play a Hendrix or Deep Purple themed pin than a T-Pain, Flo-Rida or Kanye one  *.*  Actually I'd play a Beyonce one if it was decorated with her best bits and definitely that one Spurr has in his avatar ;)
