From cathode & anode displays, LED technology to LCD displays… Ha Ha… Found the following images which I thought was interesting as these "NIXI tubes" are now expensive and are used to build clocks with new electronics.

Would love to see an 80's pinny display converted to nixies, would put a different spin on the game.

Below are some machines by "Rally" Mmmm sounds like another familiar name… using nixie tubes for score display, 1966 to 68.

Ive personally seen Gavs machine and must say the nixie tubes look fantastic these machines were way ahead of their time

I LOVE nixies!!!! yes.. My COMICS has nixie displays... is the coolest thing.. the russians are still making them and can be bought cheap on Ebay.
The 7XX series driver chips are harder to come by, but good old ruskies make an equivalent.
Can make a really nice clock using nixies and decade counters.

The RALLY games though are pre chip and so have a 200v driver on them....

I can remember many years ago wondering if any pinballs ever used nixie tubes for displays.. that was before internet existed and before i even knew of the existance of Rally machines (they were the first ones i'd seen with the nixies in them). I remember thinking how cool they looked with the nixies in them.

well they arent my cuppa tea.. i mean they arent games id be looking for, i just liked the look of the nixie tubes used in them. but i can still appreciate them for what they are.. a part of pinball history, like them or not, thats what they are far as im concerned!!

Having seem one of these "in the flesh", I was totally fascinated by their construction and their presentation. so what - They are not "common" so they are less of a machine (that's what I thought when I first saw it)?

If the opportunity arises, I'd buy one and have it in my collection. They are unique, rare and part of history.

Nothing says "old" like a Nixie tube hehehehee.

I play with Nixie's on occasion, and have a Nixie frequency counter which is hilarious (and big).
The endless supply of Nixies pumping out on ebay has caused quite a new interest with today's hobbyists, making 'old style' clocks & kits etc...
