what defines a shopped pin?
« on: June 13, 2010, 12:09:22 AM »
as the title says, what defines a shopped pin?
in my opinion it should have at least the following:
Cleaned and waxed playfield.
All blown and blackend lamps replaced, remaining lamps cleaned.
All playfield inserts and insert lamp pcb's cleaned.
Flipper kits fitted.
New rubbers.
Plastics & ramps cleaned + broken ones repaired in a professional manner or replaced.
All switches, optos, displays, pcb's & solenoids checked & working properly.
New balls & batteries.
New feet fitted if needed
Working locks.
Power Lead & 240v wiring in safe working order & all earthing checked.
Clean legs.
inside of cabinet vacumed
Subway ramps (if any) cleaned.

What do you guys think?

if you add checked and re-soldered boards, you would have reconditioned in my opinion

shopped can be wiped with a wet rag, and few rubbers and globes changed

the term shopped is so ambigious that it shouldnt be used, better to just describe work done

Agreed,
At least if the seller describes all work that's been done you should then know what to expect.

"shopped" to defines the "work-shop" the machine was "shopped" in.  Everyone has their own workshop, and they "shop" the machine out differently. Some with a rag in one hand and nifti in the other, and others almost recondition the game.

ADD:

Burnt PCB connectors replaced
Fuse holders checked for broken tags
(if imported - IE most container pins) check that it is wired for 220/240V

Replacement Pinball PCBs that remain faithful to the originals

i agree homepin
but when i check pcb's i check for the fuse holders and burnt / hacked connectors.
and with the 240v wiring i include that when i check 240v wiring and earthing.

Always check the fuses and their values. I've seen some over rated fuses "patch up" the source of the problem, but not fix it.

Always look at "upgrades" for machines. Addams Family is typical - The magnets should be fused - they were not from factory - and it is a great idea.

SHOPPED in a general term would HAVE to include as a MINIMUM

machine cleaned properly - cleaned means cleaned. not black shit everywhere.
all bulbs and rubbers done - blackened and not working bulbs are not acceptable.
all boards working - machine trouble free. lighting circuits, non working strings of solenoids and sound boards etc not working-unnacceptable.
new balls - rusty balls not acceptable.
all fuses working - no broken, black or not working fuses- unacceptable.
all under playfield pcb's working - having to resolder multiple boards unnacceptable.
no broken or hanging wires - unnacceptable

the above is common sense. anyone sending out a machine and calling it "shopped" shld think twice.
