Fish Tales Restore - starts again
« on: September 21, 2008, 02:10:09 PM »
Continued my FT Restore today after many months off ( I hate Winter  >:() ....nothing huge or difficult ..all simple stuff today , just thought I would show some progress.

Cut some new plastics

I always like to replace the clear PF plastics on my machines as most of them have nearly always gone yellow...the FT Boat Ramp was no exception. I just buy a sheet of 2mm perspex , place the old yellow plastic onto it, trace it and then use a jigsaw on medium speed with a fine cutting blade to cut the new plastic to shape....I do it all manually, just pushing the plastic towards the blade as I go, and I keep the blade as close to the edge of the bench as possible to stop any flexing as that makes the sheet of perspex crack.

Hers the 2 new plastics sut to shape compared to the original yellowy ones, in this shot the new plastics still have the protective film on them.

Heres a similar shot with the film removed....

And heres the new plastics placed temporarily on the ramp.

Installed the New Shooter

BIG Thanks to Mark C for this new FT shooter handle, I was a bit concerned as to how it would look in full chrome as it is different to the original finish , but man it came up GREAT !!

Nice work wotto.

Did you machine come with the plastic that runs along the side of the boatramp over the 5 yellow posts ?

That ALWAYS broken or missing..

Love the gun handle mate.

How do you smooth the edges on the plastics? Some fine sandpaper?
