Hankin A5 Power board FINISHED! Avail soon
« on: September 21, 2012, 07:37:53 PM »
Moving along with the Hankin set of boards - still a fair bit to do on this but a solid start at least. Replaced the 6A diodes with 35A bridges and a heatsink - same as the Bally rectifier board. Changed the large electro cap to 6 x common (easy to get) types. Also labled the fuses (and will label the test points). Fitted the nice new gold heatsinks to the regulator and the transistor.

Probably start on the solenoid/lamp driver board next - it needs a major re-design however so that involves a fair bit of bench/design time first before launching into a PCB design.

Yeah - lucky I ordered the new ones in gold as well - I didn't actually think this far ahead - hahaha - so now all heatsinks will match nicely  ^^^

All power to you Mike.
I'm sure these boards will breath new life into many machines that would otherwise be parked up or parted out.

I received another power supply board from Ken this morning and it clearly shows where excess current on the G.I. pins has burnt the connectors. This was a common problem with most Hankin machines (as it was with all other manufacturers as well).

I have added an extra connector with 10A rated pins so the wiring can be slightly modified when fitting this new board to prevent the problem.

I have also started labeling up things.

Now that the Hankin MPU is finished we are pulling out all the stops to tidy up the power rectifier and solenoid driver boards. The Power rectifier is almost there with just a few tweaks required to have it off to the board house:

Adding plenty of legends so it's easy to track down faults for the end user:

The paralell arangement of the caps is interesting.Could you please explain the logic?
Would i be right in saying the uF is 6 times the individual value of each capacitor?

Yes, caps in parallel add together - so 6 x 1000uf would equate to 6000uf.

This overcomes both a space issue and also smaller value caps are easier to find.

I am waiting for the delivery of my Orbit1 so I can finalise the MPU and then it will be available for sale and I can quickly move to finish the rest of the board set including this one.

Well this project took a back seat for a little while but with Pinfest looming I thought I had better chase it up! The PCB design is now complete and will be sent to the board house today. The few remaining parts needed will be sourced this week.

If you want to have a look at one come and see me at Pinfest.

Well the first small batch of blank boards has arrived. Anyone wanting to have a look at one can see it at Pinfest. I will have a made up one on display.
