I dont believe that rumour from the USA Dealer is true at all. There is no way in the world STERN would be putting their prices up by well over 20 percent in one hit. It will never happen. A 5percent increase, IF at all, but by $500 to $1,000, no way. Totally unrealistic.
Steve Ritchie was recently asked if his up n coming Star Trek machine (which is going to have the new boards n playfield harnesses etc) , if the price was going up, and he said he didnt believe so at all, and said he couldnt see why it would.

I will send both AMD and STERN a email right now and ask for clarrification, because It might be a rumour created perhaps from another manufacturer versus having any merit. A 5% increase on Sterns retail $4750 price,  would be apx *$240, with a 10% increase being *$475 total.
Given that the increase is levied against the purchasing Stern dealers at a wholesale price, and not levied against retail pricing, it would be less than the above *figures anyway.

I cant see STERN increasing costs in a time when they are just winning back many many thousands of clients. We also pay more money here in Australia pro-rata than the USA end buyers, so there is already more fat on the bone for the Aussie importer, which means they could easily absorb
any small price increases and not pass them on, if it meant keeping the Aussie public happy.

*In any event, I will email for the answer, direct from the horses mouth.

more interesting is if the prices go up in the US but not here that suggests we may have been taken advantage of.

You don't say.... <.>

We have been getting squeezed for the last 3-4 years since the LE's gained traction.

ACDC - Pro at 4000
BIBLE at 6000

As long as the market keeps buying there is no incentive to pass on a cost reduction, simply the opposite.

I can't see prices going down on pinball machines and with the current popularity, companies will take advantage of this.

Didnt stern recently inform its suppliers that they were to cut supply costs by X amount or things would move overseas to China?

A cost cutting exercise coupled with a proposed price hike.. although not confirmed yet, it does smack of investors now wanting a return for their $$ input.

Simple marketing.. establish the product by lifting the game and then price accordingly.
Wouldnt suprise me if this rumour is at least 90% true

I have written to both STERN and AMD via email this afternoon, 28/3/2013.  We will know soon enough what the official line is.

I would be extremely dissapointed if the price went up anymore than $200 tops in Australia, and even then, I would still have a hard time accepting
any price increase for what we are currently paying.

+ 1.

A point about price increases.
I bought my wife a brand new Toyota Camry, it was $30,990 drive away.
Now, 5 yrs later, the same model Camry, is a far superior car than it was 5 years ago, much better appointed, comes with soo much more, superior everything, and the price, $28,990 drive away. So, the price has dropped, the product is better, and they continue to win more market share.

This should be a lesson for Stern. Dont put prices up, and if you do, you had better justify it with some amazing improvements and features/benefits.

Well spotted Leon. Just saw that on Sterns FB site as well.

Hmmm, a FORD pinball machine. Can it get any better. Im a huge Ford fan. Star Trek and Ford pinball machines in 2013. Does it get any better.
I would never have thought in a million years they would do a FORD Pinball. I just hope it makes it to regular production and its not just a one off.
It would sit next to my Viper Night Drivin Pinball machine very well, or the Corvette Pinball Nino is professionally restroring.

Anyone else on here interested in a FORD Pinball Machine by Stern ?  !@# !@#

I'd prefer to see a combined classic car theme including Chevrolet, Ford, Pontiac, Dodge ect.
