Ok I just noticed that when I touch the side rails I get a shock.  Does this mean the machine in not earthed properly?

It means you stop now and have it looked at. This is the typical project pinball. They were sold as projects for a reason. You may have a mains issue - mains cable not earthed, broken earth strap, or a similar issue to a Secret Service game I looked at that had the fuse holder lugs flapping in the breeze.

Drop the game over in my workshop - I'll have it sorted for you. Electricity is a serious issue.
X2, if your not confident or not sure, take it to someone who is, just to be save  *%*

Now in regards to the displays, there is power on the powerbord plug, there is power in the j7 connection on the display board, still no displays.  I did notice some corrosion on the master display board though.
Running out of ideas but dont want to shell out for new displays if I dont need to

Is the CPU actually booting?  Don't think there would be anything on display until it boots.  Prob explains why no attract mode

Hey mate,

Sorry, missed the bit where it was booting.  (((

I take it your 100v is measuring correctly for the power at the displays like Daniel suggested?

Just take care as it is HV..

Also you'll need to get the grounding issue sorted as getting a tingle from the side rails is neither good nor healthy.

Thanks for the thread.  Yeah 100v on both ends.  I think the master display board is at fault

OK - see you you go with the further trouble shooting.  All part of the learning experience.

I loved my Police Force, such a fun yet simple game.

I upgraded my displays to PinLed and I've just gone through whats left of my parts stash.

Is your's p/n D-12232-2 ?

This was off my Taxi.  I honestly cant remember the condition of it, from memory it was working and I upgraded it to Pinled just cause.

The rest of my Police Force displays went to someone, as the IC's on them are unobtainable.

The ex-Taxi display I robbed of the top glass display, bottom on is there but looks worn to the eye.  U14 also looks gone.  I also have the bonus glass display from Taxi p/n 5762-10933-00.

Not sure if they are the same.

You're welcome to them both.  I can drop off at Nino's during the week.

If you need to rob I/C's from it, I'd suggest using a proper desoldering gun.

Its a relay for the backbox lamps...

From memory the relay actually clicks in tune with the music / sounds on the game.  Very cool.

Going by the photos on IPDB should be there.

Ok cool. That explains why it doesnt light up as all the cables to the backbox lamps have been cut
