You havent changed any settings at all have you?
It is possible that you may have turned off "continuous sounds" by going through the coin door switches... check your manual and go through the settings to make sure.... would be nice if this was a real easy fix for you

hmm, that could make sense, i did change the coin mech to take $1 coins, and it was taking customers coins so i took it off again and reinstalled it the day before this happened. which fixed the coin problem. now on my space hawks machine is a test switch button, and that allows changes to like scores and so on.
this rock encore machine doesnt have that button on the coin door, is that what you are talking about? as there is a wire that is hanging doing nothing i knoticed that yesterday when i found that loose wire when looking over the machine for visable problems in regards to this problem with sound, i earthed it off on the door and the machine went into test mode. there is no switch and it looks like it has been loose for years, but there was no other loose wires i found so i taped the end of it up so it wasnt going to earth its self off acidently. but just to make this clear this was only after the problem started. so you think there could be a setting to turn on and off the continous sound? would there be a test switch usually on a gtb machine like my bally one has? and do you have any pictures of a regular gtb coin door settup with switches i could use as reference to try and track down if i have a switch missing or not? your idea does make sense, i dont have a manual but i dont have any swtiches at the coin door, but maybe i do have some dodgy wires. im about to go into my shop now to close it for the night ill take a photo of my coin door so you can see if you can see any problems or abdomalities

I think actually, the continuous sound is controlled by the DIP switches on the CPU board??
Need someone familiar with GTBsys80b to chime in here... or a manual!

ok i have not touched any of those dip switches.but if any one is familar with those switches ill be happy to check them over. i went into the shop i found the second wire for the door test switch, it was tucked up the back of the door loom, joined touched them together and could shift through each test, all test were fine it does not do sound test which i was anoyed about i was hoping it would test the sounds.
one question what does "game prom-sum 7B3D" mean? came up in the test.

also thank you retropin for taking the time

You know i couldnt find what bloody sound board either ROCK or ROCK ENCORE used.
But... on the sound board are some DIP switches.
You can try setting all to OFF and then back on again,
if i am right, then your DIP settings should be as follows:

DIP S1- used to do self test
DIP S2- Not used
DIP S3 and S4- Used for attract sounds and how often they are played. Both off is no attract sounds. Both on is maximum time between sounds.
DIP S5- background sound enabled during game play if on
DIP S6- Not used
DIP S7- Not used

ok had allok at the sound board. looked at the dip switches, there is only 4 swithes, tried each of them one by one,
it turned different sounds on and off, but none of them put in the continous game sound, im guessing this board is stuffed.
Beaky heeeeellllppppppppppppp lol,
