Just spent an hour playing pinball with my kids. Not a hand held device, beeping phone, snapchat, email.. nothing. Just pinball. Went to comp last weekend. So many heads buried in phones and devices. Now we have a pinball that basically reflects today's obsession with technology and communication. Whatever happened to locking the door behind you and playing pinball ? The theme absolutely SUCKS.

Non licensed themes of yesteryear - Medieval Madness, Junkyard, No Good Gophers, Theater of Magic. Is this the best they can come up with ? A pinball about a friggen hand held device  !*!

I'll bet it SMSs you when your high score is beaten  :tumble:

Had a bit more look at some photos, and having a think about unlicensed themes in general. I think for most people, pinball is a bit of an escape or reliving earlier times, so can appreciate the fact that a focus on a phone is not ideal - personally, i reckon if they changed the title to Quantum City (as others have suggested, since that is the city the whole theme is based around), it would be a lot better. However, thinking about other themes - they are almost all very polarising, and the theme in general does not appeal to everyone. EG:

Fishtales - polarising, many people hate fishing
Whitewater - whitewater rafting, cool idea, but most people aren't into it
Theatre of Magic/Pinball Magic - most people prob think magic is lame
CV - circus...lame to many people
Roller Coaster - cool idea, maybe childish to some or many
Generic car themes - appealing to many, although there have been a few games based on these
Roadshow - theme based on roadworks - pathetic idea

However - most of the games listed above are accepted by many players and collectors as good to very good games.

Interestingly (looking at threads on pinside quickly) most people who have actually played it say it seems to play very well (even at coding only 20% complete), is less stop start than other games such as TZ and is just plain fun.  I reckon that's what many of us have wanted - a pin with newer technology, but with a focus on a 'fun' theme like many WPC games.

Personally, i am looking forward to giving it a god bash down the track, and really will reserve judgement on game play until then, but i reckon its got some good potential....even more if they changed the name!

I can't stand mobile phones. I see enough of them in everyday life with every 2nd person glued to one, the last thing I want to see let alone own is a pinball machine with a phone.
Lame!

The main difference is, that when these machines were designed and themes picked, the manufacturers completed the game. No input from anyone except the in-house designers. They were also designed to go onsite and earn money. No one really cared back then - you don't like a game or theme, just wait a couple of months, and there will be something you will like !

I thought an original game would be challenging pinheads to put their stupid devices in their pockets, and play a pinball that demands their attention with the theme and gameplay. Having said that, I'd play the game for sure, but never consider buying it at half the asking price.

just an odd theme, so many options, I get that JJP are pushing the bar with technology but this is just a bit too far

but for those curious, here is the playfield

I like EVERYTHING about this game so far.
Really want to play this as I think it is going the right direction to stop pinball dying and being only for the oldies.
Curious on $$ though. May have to trade a few in?

I think the game is aimed at a different generation and I am also interested to see more.

Is anyone happy about the price? I think not.....but it is what it is. Epic theme or not the price would be the same.

Think we need to see more before we throw it to the wolves though.

And Cow Corner I think we got it, you don't like it..... ::)

Must say I really am perplexed at this choice of theme. It just seems there are so many other things in this world that could be be the next great original theme....just thinking that mobile phones might not be that. Watching that video I was thinking that I wished that person would answer their bloody phone and then realised it was the game!

I am holding out for a more classic theme, like Australia Post - you know, pay more, get less, wait longer, none of this new fangled mobile crap....

You show the game to drum up sales; however you also charge people to view the game.
