LOL thats the trick just walk away if its not going right.    With the old relay if you lookat the switch stacks and follow the contacts straight down into the slots on the plastic arm bit should give you some idea as to the original location and if the long switch is closest to the coil then it was Normally closed but if the long contact is away from the coil then the switch would have been normally open.
 Hope this makes sense

Yep totally makes sense. My problem is that im not sure what wire goes to what as its a mess. I mean the relay thats on there now has switches that dont even go through to the plastic arm and just sit there without any movement... grrrrrr  :lol

Well for now forget the whole moving arm.  Draw yourself a diagram and work out which switches had what color and what side the long blade is then post it here and i can tell you which ones were open or closed it doesnt really matter which switch you use for which color wires solong as the open or close as they should

I have better pictures in my camera - but the bloody battery is flat.

I documented the entire relay - so I will redraw it, scan and attach as JPG tomorrow.

Now, where do you live?

Take advantage of Expo and invite a couple of EM nuts back to your place after the dinner - I am sure another beer or two will convince them to fix it for you!

Good luck, you will work it out eventually.

Right - I've documented the "M" Relay on my Pro football. I stand corrected on one part - There IS a Jumper between the White/Red (2 wires) and the Orange/White - on the same stack. This is as simple as I can document it ;

One side has 3 pairs, and the other 2 pairs. The coil is below the respective stacks ;

Yep - I was afraid of that !

They would be faded, the maroon was almost a pinkish orange for me.

Any updates Rob?   If your still not sure on wire color just look at the contacts and make sure the two wires are switched to the same contact on the new relay if you can take some good side on pics and im sure we can work out which one is the normally closed set?

No updates as yet... ive looked at the wires a few thousand times and no luck. The closed contact is maroon and white plus a solid maroon.. i see a maroon and white but no maroon. I guess i just need a sunny weekend with good natural sunlight so i can track the wires back to where they may have more colour showing and work it from there.  !!!

Have you removed the wires from the old Relay?

Rob - Make sure you document the present state of the relay before starting. Take pictures and post here if possible.
