Hi Rob,

Keep going, you're doing an excellent job!

Also, just a tip - for close up photos your camera should have a macro setting (sometimes its a small little flower symbol on your camera!)

Thanks for the tip and encouragement MartyJ! I just noticed that i started this thread in dec last year... how depressing  :tumble:

No way, not depressing at all.  Full points for sticking at it and once you've got these last few bugs ironed out you will be well on your way to being an expert with EM's.

Just to make sure id be soldering a piece of wire from the single wiper to the metal tab is making good contact

yeah will do but because im adjusting it every 5 mins im only twisting it on... it does work when i manually start a game by tripping AB relay (the stepper moves) so i know its making a good enough contact for now

The stepper may move when you  Activate the relay but if thats not making contact it could be the reason it doesnt activate the relay by itself? Just something to rule out ^^^

Another good investment for you rob are the Test leads that have alligator clips on both ends you can use them to quickly connect wires etc with out soldering so you can test an idea without making it permanent.  Jaycar sell them for about $5 for a pack of 5 or 10

Sorry Ford mate... but i think i made the right choice to stay out of this one... guess im a bit like the bloke that pops his head round the door and goes "oops sorry" and leaves again

:lol Gav, i dont blame ya mate!! im sure i've caused lots of pain on this one!!. it has taught me patience which i guess is a good thing.

I just soldered the wire as per Daniels post and adjusted previously so it looks like the positioning of Nino's stepper and still no luck... The wife just shook her head when i went outside to do the soldering and test again. I think she is looking at the Pro Football with "lets take it to the tip" eyes  :lol

Sigh

Been there done that X100..

Everyone started from somewhere - bit of a baptism of fire, but I see this as a challenge, not a problem.

Stepper is readjusted - no difference.

Now lets take a step back and recap. What are the outstanding issues ?

A five second check - Have you cleaned the connectors between the head and the body ? You can use a wire brush or 180 Grit on the male connector.

ok then

The latest is ...

1.Left flipper doesnt work ( will buy new switches)
2.Motor keeps running and the only way i can get it to stop is to trip AB relay with my finger. Tested coils on Q, S , A and AB relays and they seem to pull fine.

Doing my head in but it does make me feel better that im not the first person to go through the pain. Going to have to fix it soon or the wife will throw the anchor overboard  :lol seems we have swapped positions, i am the patient one now!

Ill have a glance at the Schematics tommorrow and make some suggestions.

A completed switch in the ball count unit (still could be an issue) + all the score reels runout switches closed + 4D closed on the score motor will fire the AB Reset coil = Game starts.

The one part that is confirmed is the runout Switches (Done at Rollerball's meet)

The Second part that is confirmed is the Ball count unit is adjusted - BUT - there could be a wire issue - Daniel's suggestion of an alligator clip is a good one

The only part left is the 4D switch on the score motor must be closed. do you know how to find that on the schematic ? The switch is physically the topmost stack ..

Score reels reset to zero - I believe that was looked at by a couple of Techs at Paul's meet ?
