Pete, It works that way in the motorcar, jetski, motorbike n boating industries, but pinball is a weird world.
My guess is probably yes, but the discount structure would not be hugely different. These days, the dealers have to fight over the very limited LE stock, so maybe its only on Pro stock...not enough BNIB Stern dealers in Australia to get enough public info really.

When i am in Sydney again, I will take a video of the AMD showroom band new Stern machine line up which is impressive, with Bruces permission.
That way I can share it with the melb guys who are interested in seeing what i think looks great.  ^^^

It is a interesting point though, if they have a LE out of the box say from Norbets office or the showroom at AMD being played for a while, it's no longer a NIB. I went down in Feb this year when the AC/DC was released and Luke visited a purchased a transformers LE for a discounted price, hopefully they would be honest with the joe blogs that rings up and wants one. As you wouldn't want say a avengers LE that was out of box that had a 100 games that was then packed up again for a NIB purchase unless something was thrown in.

It must be a bit of a conundrum for the dealer as pinball buyers are most definitely used to being able to play a machine prior to purchase so they do need to have demo machines. Yet for a NIB machine, as soon as it is played it must lose around $500 - $1000 I guess?

I assume they take a hit on the opened machines and write that off as a marketing cost or similar - and sell enough NIB machines to make it worth their while.

I would think any machine opened up for demo use then sold at a discounted price then AMD would surely claim the difference from the factory/stern as it marketing for not only AMD but stern, then again both new games I've bought have pretty much come off the boat and into my car for me sight unseen my choice though. Do many people go into a showroom play then buy? I don't know maybe cause we don't have AMD here, interesting topic guys

noticed the following with the translites

Pro - has Capt America fron and centre
Blue LE - has Thor front and centre
Hulk LE - has Hulk obviously front and centre

so wondering will the Premium have Iron Man front and centre given the apron is going to be Red.

Yeah mate, the rumor is the Premium will have IM as the main focus of the translite.

I was considering a Premium also, based on say AMD-Sydney pricing -

$6600 for a Pro (based on $6200 base plus shaker plus delivery to QLD)
$8600 for a Premium (based on $8200 base plus shaker plus delivery to QLD)
$9150 for the LE (based on $8950 base incl shaker plus delivery to QLD)

Therefore, the money difference on a Premium versus LE is only $550.
I decided IF I went for a model other than the Pro, it would have to be the LE because i was thinking the resale for a LE would/may always be higher for the LE pro-rata and perhaps easier to sell later than a Premium ?.

Either way, all machines look great and I think any of the Avengers models would be very nice to have, whatever way anyone goes.
I have emailed Stern and have asked when any media and photos of the Premium will be available. I will post if I get any information.

I jumped on the Hulk bandwagon. So ugly could not resist it...kind of stands out and screams "play me"!
Placed my deposit with AMD this arvo. Bruce said it should be in 3rd week of Jan 2013.

I did not ask him about numbers and he was not aware of which of the 250 will come to Australia .
I managed to secure #10 with an additional $250 over the standard LE price.
