what the? (you played this one before you broke those frogs) ?????????
The SOF is dam Brilliant.
I even had enough patients to wax the playfield before I played it. It looks so shiny.
I will be getting a novus kit (1,2 & 3) for the playfield. fortunately 99% of the bubbles are on the light inserts so they will be easy to get rid of.
The translite has a couple of worn spots, but this has only removed the black behind the blue which means some small areas light up blue
instead of being dark, no great drama there, just a bit of blackout paint will fix that.
it needs some new chrome bolts to go with it's great looking legs.
cabinet has a couple of very small marks.(which are very hard to see.)
overall a 9 out of 10 ^^^ @@*.(it still has the Williams warranty sticker below the coin door on the outside).
It plays as good as the new one i use to play 20 years ago and looks nearly as good.
No broken plastics.
Very clean.
I defiantly got my monies worth with this one.
Thank you Mark and all the guys at childamusments, you are a credit to the pinball industry.

I resemble that remark! I think that's "deformation of character"!!! ;)

Wow it's amazing what a coat of wax does to a black blue and silver cabinet.
downloaded a manual for it to day.
trying to find the only electronic fault it has.
the more lights that light up on the play field the dimmer they get.
not the gen illuminination but all the lamps under the inserts.
has anyone had this problem with a system 11b before?
if so let me know so i can save my self some time in fault finding.
it's not overly bad but it is noticeable.

Sounds like power-supply regulation problem, could be a bunch of things in the 'chain'...

Could also just be a semi-corroded connector (VERY common) that suffers during higher current demands.
Might be as simple as the main filter cap gettin' old...

I'd suggest measuring the volts on the transformer (that eventually leads to the lamp supply) and make sure the transormer is rated well enough (not lowering in volts) as more lamps come on - design fault?

If volts are stable, then measure at the bridge rectifier, then the filter cap output and eventually into/thru the regulation transistors etc etc......

Somewhere along that line you will see an obvious voltage change as you bring on more lamps.

MM.

thanks.
I've repaired lights and solonoids that stay on or don't work at all but have never come accross anything like this before
all the connections between the tfx to the bridge and to the board look pretty sound (i.e no sign of heat stress due to resistance in a bad or week connection)
Voltage on main filter cap seems to fluctuate quite a bit (16 vdc down to 12 vdc) but the ac input to the bridge only flucuates 2 vac so i think i will start with that cap.
thanks again.
i will keep you posted.

Sounds like the GI connector - but you have already checked that.

Possible Dry joints ?

Does this machine have multiple GI relays ? (One for the head, one or the Playfield)

I should have 18V.dc on the cap but it is dropping down to 12V
