Yes but I'm using 3A as that what's written on the board? There may have been a 5A label stuck on it that's fallen off.
I ran out of 3A so I did try a normal 5A fuse but it blew too. I'll have to check the drawings again.

I think I have most things sorted (Thanks Trev!)............My biggest problem so far is learning the specific pinball terms, eg "GI"....anyway turns out the generail illumination was completely out, didn't realise it was AC, when I got that worked out it turns out the GI Fuse was shot...BUT...it reads ZERO ohms both in and out of circuit, physically the fuse also looks good....I worked it out when I found 7.5VAC one side of fuse and not the other......As an exercise I put the fuse on the workbench, rigged up an ammeter and load and sure enough fuse is fine until around 4 amps is drawn through it..

Now the only thing that I cant work out from the schematic.....are the lamps inside the bumpers and the lamps that light up the four exit lanes switched or supposed to be on all the time??...at the moment they are always on, but before I re-pinned the PSU Im almost certain that these lamps (certainly the ones inside the bumpers) only flashed when the flippers were used.....Ive spent so many hours so far there is a high chance Im just confused :)    does anyone know the correct operation of these lamps?

I'd say those lamps are switched. Check the bumper caps aren't pushing the bulbs down so they're not making proper contact in the lamp holder. Try them with the caps off and move the bulb around. I've had this problem on both of my machines.
I don't know if toads could tell you the correct operation of the rollover switch lamps.

Not sure, the instruction on playing the game in the manual might give you some insight, I couldn't find a video of one either.
Mine is too far away from me ATM to check.

The lamps in the pop bumper things are on all the time so its not a contact thing....I guess Im at the stage now where either its all fixed or there is still a fault forcing those (and the exit lane) lamps on all the time

I'd have thought that if they were meant to be on all the time they would be wired to the gi lighting circuit not the control circuitry.
Not having an Orbit1 I can't say for sure but the bumpers on the Empire Strikes Back and Howzat are switched not permanently on.
Maybe check for shorts on the solenoid pcb tracks or look for melted insulation and shorted wires in the loom?

Any idea what SPSA on the schematic would be?  (there are a left and right SPSA).....there is also Alley 1 to 4...these are all from the switched lamp matrix

I cannot work out what they call the lamps inside the pop bumpers though....

I will get this sorted if its the last thing I do!

I think the pop bumpers are left top and right top? Just check the wire colours on the schematics and the pop bumper lamps. I'd say the alley 1 to 4 are the roll over switch lamps you're having problems with,  again check the wire colours.  I'm not sure what the SPSA are without checking the playfield wiring.

Bumper lamps will be labelled something like "Left bumper", "Right bumper" etc (i just checked on a Hankin schematic to confirm)
